Frequently Asked Questions

Here we hope we have answered the most commonly asked questions by our customers. If we have not covered your question here please drop us a message and we will be delighted to help!

What is the maximum number of people that I can book?

You are guaranteed a maximum group size of 8 people per guide, some trips may have two guides. If a trip has two guides they will each run separate trips each day so each days excursion size will not be higher than 8 per guide. Bespoke trips which are made to your requirements can have custom numbers of guides and people in attendance. Larger groups do take more time to get quotes for as transport and accommodation becomes more tricky the more people that go.

What are the payment terms?

Our standard payment terms are a £150 deposit followed by 50% of outstanding balance due 12 weeks before departure date and the final payment due 6 weeks before the departure date.

Some people prefer to make just two payments, rather than three. If you would prefer to do this we can take a 50% deposit and the outstanding balance 6 weeks before departure.

The above terms do not apply to special offers or bespoke packages, which may differ.

Can I book my own flights?

In some circumstances, yes you can book your own flights if you have a different departure airport that suits you better. The transport meet time at the destination airport is set by Via Ferrata Guides and if booking your own flights it is your responsibility to ensure you are at the meet point at the correct time. The meet time and location will be governed by the flight times that other customers are booked on by Via Ferrata Guides.

Will the trip have other people I do not know on it?

This is up to you. If there is just one or two of you then usually we suggest allowing others to book onto the same trip to help keep the cost down. However if you want a personal guide for just one or two people, this is no problem and can easily be arranged. We have done trips for couples on their honeymoons where there are just two guests but also done trips where there are 6 individual people that have never met before.

I have never done Via Ferrata will I be ok?

We offer trips for people who have never done Via ferrata before as well as trips for people that have done it for many years. Before you book, you will speak to one of our guides who will be happy to talk you through what to expect and they will be happy to build an itinerary that suits your ability. A head for heights in definitely required and a reasonable level of fitness, otherwise your good to go!

Where do we meet our guide?

Your guide will meet you at the airport and be with you every step of the way. They will drive the transport for you when you are away. This allows you, our customer to sit back, relax and enjoy the amazing adventure you boo

Do I need insurance?

Yes you do. We recommend you have standard travel insurance as you would for any holiday but also suggest you have a bolt on policy that covers you for 'adventure sports'. We are happy to impartiality suggest insurance providers should you need any pointers.

What about food?

The accommodation we provide is self catering, your guide will be happy to drive you to a local supermarket to pick up what you need for meals, however we usually find that everyone is happy to pitch in together and make group meals as we go. Lunch is usually best as a packed lunch to eat while on the mountain trails.  The meal arrangements are down to your own personal preference. If you have any questions, please contact us and our guides will be happy to help.

What is the minimum age?

We offer trips for people 18 years old and over. We have no upper age limit. You will be asked some basic fitness questions when you book with us to ensure you will be booked on to a suitable ability trip.
